BML Research Experience for Undergraduates in Marine Science Program
About the Program:
BML is situated on an unparalleled and biologically rich stretch of the California coast north of San Francisco and is a part of the University of California at Davis. BML welcomes a diverse and interactive community of visiting students and scientists each summer. |
| The program provides modules in Science Ethics and in Effective Science Communication for career-building experience. Guest scientists visit the program to interact with the participants. |
REU students can choose from a variety of study organisms, habitats both marine and coastal terrestrial, and diverse areas of study, for example, coastal oceanography, invasive species ecology, pollution effects on marine life, and biodiversity, see potential projects list. All specialized research facilities are available to students who require them. |
| The easy-going and friendly social environment at BML welcomes everyone. |
REU students will have the opportunity to interact with ~30 other under-graduates, 15-20 graduate students, and as many as 50 faculty, researchers, and staff. Barbecues, soccer games, seminar socials, and informal get-togethers happen through the summer. Students will reside in the BML dormitories with other undergraduates participating in summer courses. |
| "...the REU program is your opportunity to explore and have fun during the summer. A todas las mujeres Latinas echenle ganas y puro pa' adelante." -Angelica Zavala, UC Davis |
