Adding the PO Printer to a Mac

These instructions are for a Mac running OSX 10.5 /leopard, if you have an older O/S some of the screens may look slightly different, but the fundamental concepts are very similar.

Note: The PO printer is for purchase orders only. Do not send any other type of print job to this printer.

Step 1. Download and run the HP Laserjet 2035N Installer. This will install the necessary printer drivers for the PO printer. After download, launch the set up program and follow the prompts to install the driver, you may be asked to supply your mac password during the installation.

Step 2. After installing the driver, from the Apple Menu, choose system preferences -> Print and Fax.

Step 3. Underneath the list of available printers already on your Mac, click on the plus sign to add another printer.

Step 4. On the top menu bar of this window, far right, choose "More Printers". Make sure that "HP IP printing" is selected as show below. From the list choose the printer with the IP address 10.10.15.10, and select ADD.

Step 4. At this point is a good idea to give the printer an intuitive name that you will be able to recognize later. Back at the printer summary window, highlight the printer you just added and choose "open Print Queue".

Step 5. Choose “Info” and edit the printer name, change it to "PO Printer".

Step 6. While in the printer info window and after changing the printer name, check your printer driver by choosing the "Driver" menu item. Make sure that driver is the "HP LaserJet 2030 Series" as depicted below, say OK to close this window.

NOTE: If your PO printer set up doesn't specify the proper Mac printer driver, printing will not work. Follow the instructions from the beginning once more to make sure that you didn't miss a step, particularly the installation of the HP printer driver in Step 1.

If you continue to have problems setting up this printer please contact bml-ithelp@ucdavis.edu.
