Adding a BML network printer to a PC

These instructions assume that you have established credentials (an account) on the BML network and are written for a PC running Windows XP Professional.

Step 1.

From your computer desktop RIGHT click on “my network places” and from the context menu choose “search for computer”

NOTE: If you do not see “my network places” on your desktop, go to your start menu items > settings > control panels > display properties and choose Desktop tab > then Customize desktop and make sure that “my network places" is checked say OK and exit display properties. You should now see the "my network places" icon on your desktop.

Step 2.

At the search for computers box, in the “Which Computer are you looking for” area, type Seastar and choose search.

Seastar should pop up in the results pane. Double click Seastar, If you are prompted to log in to Seastar, do so. You will see a list of available printers and shared resources.

Step 3.

Commonly use printers are shown with red arrow below:

Choose the printer that you wish to add by double clicking it. A window like the one below will pop up, this is your new printer queue.

Step 4. The printer has been added to your “Printers and Faxes” See Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes

Step 5. To make this your default printer, in "Printers and Faxes", highlight the printer, right click and choose “Set as Default Printer”. A small check mark should appear next to the printer name indicating that it is now your default printer.

Step 6. To set up duplex (2-sided) printing, available on Laserjet 4200 series printers

To set up duplexing as the default printing preference for a printer:

In "Printers and Faxes", highlight the printer, right click and choose Properties > Printing Preferences > Finishing, check the box that says "Print on both sides", choose the appropriate layout option and say OK.

You may similarly edit the printing preferences from the "PRINT" dialogue box when in an application.
