The Morgan Lab: Seth Miller

I worked in the Morgan lab for a year before entering the Ph.D. program in Marine Ecology.  I am broadly interested in tracking crustacean larval dispersal patterns and I welcome suggestions on how to tackle this topic.  My research focuses on the development of a microchemical tag that is retained in the soft tissues of larval crabs throughout their development.  My research planned for summer 2007 includes developing a system to rear larvae in the lab, conducting a crab settlement survey in Tomales Bay (and possibly Bodega Harbor) using light traps, working on the multiple-investigator green crab project, and continuing the investigation of endogenous larval swimming rhythms, hopefully with electronic aid.  I also plan to shove my way onto any boat headed to Cordell Bank or the Farallones so I can go bird watching.
